Are you making the guest list for your shower?

My mom, sister, sister in laws, and a friend of my husband's family are all throwing my shower together but they want me to make a guest list of friends I want to invite, which makes sense I think but I feel weird going to them and asking for their addresses...I feel like it seems tacky. I could be way off though.
