Taking rings off already?

So for the past 2 or 3 days I've noticed a red mark under my wedding ring.  It got pretty big and bright red so I finally took it off last night.  It's still pink on the top of my finger and feels intented with a slight scab.  I almost thought it was an allergic reaction but it's pure platinum and I've been wearing it for three years and it's only red on the top part of my finger.  I've only gained a few pounds and don't feel swollen so it seems weird if it is from swelling.  Is this happening to anyone else?
