Legal question

My company has summer hours (optional) where you work typically 7.30-5.00 with a half hour lunch. But my director always says as long as you have 40hrs in, he doesn't really care if you come in at 8.00 and then stay until 5.30 etc.

During the rest of the year he wants us to do 45hrs a week so with one hour lunches. WHY? Does it have to be an hour, I thought 30minutes is required by law but not necessarily 1 hour.

also, I think I've said it before here that I"m singled out. Other people including my supervisor who is telling me I HAVE TO  take one hour comes in later some days and earlier others and does a short day and makes up the time the following day b/c she's organizing her daycare and school schedule with her DH.

But they NEVER let me do anything like that. So my first question is can they force me to take one hour? they always say it's all up to your manager but this is one big pile of BS!
