Do you think this is tacky? (shower related)

So I am registering at BRU but my mom suggested that it may be a good idea to register for gift certificates to other stores that may be more convenient for people to go to and that I can get other stuff I will need that isn't available at BRU.

I'm not sure how I feel about it but I was thinking that it would be weird to create registries with just gift cards on them. What about maybe some kind of creative wording that can be put on the bottom of the invitations to tell people I'm registered at BRU but would also like gift cards from the following stores? Do you think that it is tacky to register/ask for just gift cards?
