What do you mean contest child support order?

I just started my custody/child support case.  My ex already pays his first wife child support.  However he makes a decent amount of money and I have already done the calculation with my attorney based on the child support laws of our state.  Assuming I get primary custodial custody I am expecting a certain amount and then when his child support for his other children ends in 2.5 years I expect to have that amount modified.

I don't understand what you guys mean about him contesting that?  It is my understanding that no expenses except for exisisting child support, daycare, and medical insurance factor into this calculation.  How can they contest it??
