How much will you/did you spend on a crib?

I know a crib is one of the big ticket items and I'm overwhelmed by all the choices out there. But the crazy thing is, why are many cribs ~$1000?? What is really the difference between those and ones that are more like $300? Just wondering how much you plan to or have spent on a crib and whether you are happy with it. Also, anyone have a brand that they love?
