how to make oatmeal into a finger food?

My 8 month old loves steel cut oatmeal......or at least he did up until he started wanting to eat everything on his own.  He wont let me feed him anymore so I am stuck giving only things he can pick up himself, and oatmeal is not one of them. I let him try and he just rubs it between his hands and then rubs his face and gets it in his eyes.

I made him an egg yolk scramble and put some oatmeal in it and he was able to pick it up like that.

Any other ideas on how to turn oatmeal into a finger food?
