major job change?

Has anyone had done a major job change? Did you regret it?

 

I've worked at the same job for 7 years, and I love my job and the people here, but I don't get the home time I need. I commute 1-1.5 hours each way and I get home after both DH and LO are in bed and it is killing me. I actually asked the owner at daycare if they are looking for help. I would make less money, but daycare would be half price, so it sort of evens out. But part of me thinks I'm crazy for even thinking about leaving my job - it is a dream job for a theater geek like me.

 

I'd love some advice from anyone who has made a big change career wise.
