gender reveal party?

So I feel completely in the dark with this! I saw a friend on facebook post pics from her gender reveal party and it was super cute! People came wearing blue or pink (depending on what sex they thought the baby was) and there were pink and blue plates and decorations. And then the big reveal was this cake decorated in pink, blue and yellow and when the cake was cut it was either pink or blue (food dye). I have never heard of this and thought it was adorable!

 

Anyone do this before???? I am contemplating this now, I would just have to plan fast since I find out in two weeks!
