testing at 17 weeks?

As I was leaving my last appointment (13 weeks), my doctor mentioned some "optional blood work" testing for certain issues during my next visit (17 weeks).  I was in the process of leaving the office, so I didn't think to ask what this test was called, or what exactly it screened for.  Does anyone know what test she was talking about, and what it would help me find out if I decided to do it?

This is my first pregnancy so I'm a bit...crazy? Lol no, I'm just very anxious and always seem to think of the right thing to ask when I'm already done with my doctor visit! Any advice would help
