Resizing photos for PIP help? TIA!

I'm obviously not very computer savvy. I can either upload a huge photo or I can upload a tiny thumbnail. Do I need to resize photos first before uploading them to tinypic? Or what size am I supposed to select when I upload the picture? Then I select the code for message boards, right? TIA.
