LO act differently for father

My 9 month old loves his dad. If we were sitting side by side he would chose his dad over me everytime. But when my little guy is with his father he acts so different than he acts with me. During the day with me (im a teacher and have the summer off) he is independent and happy and calm. With my husband he is clingy and whiny and just miserable. He has a temper tantrum whenever he is put down, even if my husband is just trying to sit with him and play on the floor. This happens even with me home in the same room. I don't understand why. I would think he would be so happy to be with his dad after not seeing him all day. It is starting to hurt his feelings. Does anyone else have a LO like this or suggestions to help the situation?
