First family beach trip - Carolina Beach

We're going to Carolina Beach in two weeks. This will be our first family trip not to visit family in the Midwest and our first beach trip. Any suggestions on items we should take for the beach trip with two little girls in tow?

Any recommendations for things we should do with the girls in Carolina Beach or Wilmington?
