Fever WWYD?

DS was running a fever when I picked him up today.  We couldn't find a thermometer at my aunt's house, so I just gave him a dose of Motrin and headed home.  I checked his temp at home and it was 102.6 (rectal) and that's about an hour after getting meds.  He seems to be in a good mood.  He was sleepier and less hungry than usual today but no other major symptoms.  Should I be trying harder to bring the fever down?  At what point is a fever pedi-worthy?
