Pediatric Dentist?

J as 6 teeth. I asked my dentist when he started seeing kids, he said 3 years old. I asked if we needed to see a pediatric dentist before then and he said no.

But I've heard other parents that are already taking their babies to have their teeth checked.

Thoughts? Opinions?
