cow's milk

I just got back from S's 9 month appt. and her ped. told me I should be introducing cow milk now and she should be on it completely by 12 months (and then they test for anemia). This made me go huh??? I thought not until 12 months? When I asked about waiting, he told me that's the recommendation for parents using WIC.

Also, my daughter had the milk protein allergy. I eliminated alll dairy from my diet until 6 1/2 months when we switched to soy formula. She has never had yogurt, cheese or any other dairy products.

Has anybody else's Dr. told them something similar?
