11 mo old put dog poop in mouth! Help!

DH and DS were outside in the yard and before DH knew it he had found a little nugget of dog poop, not sure who's it is or where it came from. DH got it right out but is there anything we should keep an eye out for?

I had DH take a TINY amount of toothpaste and rub it around his mouth and then wash that out with water. I know he's not the first baby that's done this, but it grosses me out. Anything we can keep an eye out for, or pre-emptively do?
