Eve had latch issues early on so for the first
couple weeks I used a nipple shield with her.. i didn't really have too
many problems with sore nipples after that.. but my supply always
sucked for it. Natalie latched right away and has a STRONG suck.. my
milk is coming in already at just over 48 hours after she was born..
which is great.. but my nipples are BLEEDING.. I just tried to squeeze
milk out to get her started on the other breast and squeezed blood onto
her instead.
I
have the therashells to try to get air to them.. and just put them on
now.. been using lanolin pretty consistently all day..what else can i
do? Is it something with her latch? I didn't see the LC at the hospital
until we were about to be discharged so she never checked her latch, but
it looks picture perfect to me.. She is nursing pretty efficiently,
usually only 10-15 mins per side and often only 1 side per feeding. The
only thing that I notice is that my nipples seem a little creased after
she nurses which i remember my LC mentioned with Eve but I don't know
how to fix it.
So i just grin and bear it for now, right? its
okay to keep nursing with bleeding nipples? Natalie actually just spit up/out blood after nursing..
I was so excited that she
was latching so well and my milk came in so well.. of course this would
happen.
