How long to medicate?

For about 1.5 weeks now, DD has been miserable.  First she was working on the top teeth.  Then at the end of last week, she picked up a virus of some kind.  I noticed yesterday that she feels warm but not really hot.  I have been giving her Tylenol right before bed for a few nights now but she is pretty miserable right now.  I don't know whether I should keep giving her Tylenol, switch to something else or make a doctor appointment.
