Baby's first birthday party

I have a little under a month before DS's first birthday party and I'm starting to plan.  Any ideas/suggestions would be great!

We are getting cupcakes for the main cake but I still need to order his mini cake. Does anyone know if Kroger or Publix makes the little cakes just for the baby to eat?

We are grilling out and serving lunch too.  No theme - just birthday balloons and stuff.  We are asking that guests do not bring gifts (unless they absolutely want to and that is their choice).  If they do bring gifts, do we wait until after the party to open them or while people are there? Don't want to be rude to the non-gift bringers.

And we are starting to get nervous that we are inviting too many people! But how many times does a baby have a 1st birthday?
