Book recommendation needed

Hi! I am on the Sept 2011 board but was hoping for some of your more experienced help. I would like you to recommend a book that I must read prior to delivery that has really helped you. I live in South America so don't have the luxery of going to the library or used book stores to pick up several books. However, my mom just sent me a kindle so now I have access to buying some books. What do you really recommend? I have already watched Happiest Kid on the Block.  TIA!
