buying gifts for a joint bday party - question

a friend of mine is having a party party for her DS. The party is also hosted with her friend (I'll say Angie), whose DD is turning the same age.

I've met Angie once or twice over the years but hardly know her. Would you bring a gift for her DD, and how much would you spend?
