Onesie in public?

Okay, before I head to Carters to return a boatload of onesies, I want to double check on this.  Is it or is it not okay to dress your child in just a onesie and take them in public?  I'm finding the bazillion dresses we have are definitely getting in the way when she crawls but we have literally 2 pairs of shorts and they are both 18 months so they end up being capris on the little chunkster.  It's been in the 90's already here and she's a very sweaty baby to start with.
