Sleeping and hot weather

Last week or maybe 2 weeks ago, when it was really warm, Charlotte seemed to have a tough time settling. I laid her in our room with the AC (window unit) going and she fell right to sleep. I moved her back to her room when I went to bed and put a stand fan and her ceiling fan on, but it made me nervous to have our door closed while she was sleeping because what if she needed us and we didn't hear her or something like that (which I realize is a little silly, we have a monitor on, but still). Plus, I don't like to sleep in the heat, I can't imagine it is that awesome for her either. How do you work your warm weather sleeping arrangements (esp if you don't have central air)?
