Pay for babysitters

Morning ladies -

It is another steamy day here in Albany - who-hooo! Ill take this over freezing cold anytime..

Anyhow, my question for you this morning is - how much do you pay your babysitter? I just found one that I really like - she is a freshman in high school - took the Red Cross class and most importantly, LO seems to really like her..I plan on having her watch him for date nights or a few hours on a weekend if I need to go to the grocery store or (ahem) to the mall.  When I asked her and her mom how much she charges, neither had an answer, it was left up to me.. I found this odd but went with it..I was thinking maybe $8/hour? Too high? Too low??? Help!
