Terrible diaper rash = allergic to diapers?

DD has had an ongoing diaper rash for the past 2-3 weeks. It will clear up for 1 day or look dramatically better overnight (but only sometimes, not every night) but then come right back. It seems like she is almost on the verge of small blisters. She did start eating more food at the same time & now poops about 8 times a day. Could she have developed an allergic reaction to diapers? Is it just all the extra poop? Please do you have any suggestions? I have tried A&D ointment cream & max strength Destin. We were on Pampers before (she has used them since birth) and we switched to Huggies about 2 weeks ago. Her daycare doesn't have any immediate concerns but I'm sure it must be very uncomfortable for her!
