birthday theme opinion (and yes, i'm being a little cray)...

ok ladies... i have been blowing dd's first birthday planning way out of portion with stressing myself, but that's just me.  it actually wouldn't be a huge issue at all if we had a house (we live in an apartment) and had a yard to host a party.  with that being said, i'm still tossing around haivng it here in atlanta at a park or at my parents houseboat (5 1/2 hrs away).  if we do the latter, we are thinking we will just have the family and some friends to the marina restaurant for cake.  i was planning to do "alice in one-derland" but there really wouldn't be any decorations except the cake now.  is it stupid to waste such a cute theme or is it perfectly exceptable to do alice in wonderland again when she is older and have a full on tea party?  or should i just choose something simple for this one like mermaids.  seriously... i know i am acting like a looney toon but i can't seem to make a decision.  TIA~K
