JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash., May 18 (UPI) -- Another soldier from Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington was charged in the case involving plans to kill unarmed Afghan civilians in 2010, the military said.

Charges filed against Staff Sgt. David Bram include solicitation to commit murder, unlawfully engaging in murder scenario conversations, failure to report war crimes and planting evidence near the body of an Afghan civilian, The Seattle Times reported Wednesday.

Bram, the second squad leader to be charged in the case, also was charged with aggravated assault on Afghan nationals "on diverse occasions." He could be sentenced to up to 21 years in prison.

The Army has charged five soldiers with premeditated murder in the deaths of three Afghans in separate incidents last year. Seven other soldiers, including Bram, were charged with lesser crimes.
