anither 1st b day question

Do we really have to have games and such for a 1 yr old b day party?
Im trying to keep it very simple but our friends kids ages have a wide range, i dont want to spend a ton on this party because i know in years to come we can "do it up" then but i dont want the kids to be bored either.

i was thinking of Miss Spider Sunny Patch party (his fav show) but cant really find the supplies anywhere so i thought maybe a circus theme and going with this for favors.....Pop corn boxes as the bag, red foam nose, bubbles, animal crackers and a punch balloon for the older kids.

is this lame?
