breakthrough bleeding or period?

Ive been on the mini pill since LO is born, hell be a year this month, i just started weaning him and hes basically getting 2.5 feedings a day. I havnt gotten my period since i went on BC and no bleeding either. yesterday i started feeling cramps and i wasnt bleeding heavily but on the tissue. It didnt get heavy through the night, but i woke up and my stomach mildly hurt and i seem to be spotting (its red) but no heavy flow? is this mormal on mini pill as you wean is it breakthrough or period?
