Weaning from sleep sack

My LO is almost a year and he is used to being put down to sleep in a sleep sack. I have successfully took him out of it at night, but when I don't put him down in it for naptimes, he will not nap. I've tried several times without to no avail and then as soon as I use it he will nap. The reason I want to get him out of it, is that he is getting all tangled up from moving so much. TIA!
