At the same time, the Texas legislature is voting to gut public school financing, thereby demonstrating a remarkable lack of concern for the children that are indisputably present in the here-and-now. I suggest the legislature consider a bill requiring its members to examine a living child and have that child's developmental needs explained to them before being allowed to vote on any bill imperiling public school finance.
