Bathing suit question

My DS is a very curious little man.  He throws himself into furniture, climbs on EVERYTHING, and in general is always getting into trouble.  We're going on a cruise in July and I'm a bit concerned about the time we spend around the pool.  Of course I will be right on top of him, but he is very fast and has just started walking so I want to be as safe as possible.  I know there are children's bathing suits with built in flotation devices, but does anyone have any advice regarding these?  Is any one better than another?  TIA
