anyone else's 9.5 month old still not into finger foods?

DD has loved feeding herself for awhile now, but DS just isn't into it. He still just wants purees! Everything I read says they shouldn't even be on them anymore, but if he gets a chunk of anything lumpier, he gets pissed and spits it out. Something I was reading last night said that if they wait too long to get into finger foods/chunkier foods that it could make them a lazy eater and also not as good of an eater. I'm thinking that I just have to completely take away the purees and hope he gets it soon! Also, he still isn't good at the pincer grasp, which I'm sure is a big reason he doesn't like feeding himself. We work on it daily with him! Anyone else have a LO that is this way still?
