New screaming before sleep?

My daughter has always gone down easily at night.  We play and then, usually around 7:30, she starts rubbing her eyes and we put her down.  She fusses for about a minute, and then she is OUT. 

 The past few nights, we do the same thing, but she screams and screams until we go back in to get her up.  I've tried to wait it out, but she doesn't stop.  I don't know what the deal is.  After we get her up, we play for about an hour and then put her back down.  She screams again for a little while and then goes to sleep *FINALLY.*  Did your LO go through something like this around 11 months?  I've looked it up and I've read many different views on it.  What do you think?
