Ugh, SIL getting induced for no reason (edit- 3 days overdue)

Why do doctors do this?  She was due last Saturday (Edit: Saturday as in 5/14).  Her bp is great, baby looks great, fluids great, no swelling, no issues, no nothing.  Has to be doctor convenience?  She went today thinking they would induce at the end of the week or by Monday.  I had a big, fat, fail induction, so it frustrates me.
