s/o Not liking a big baby purchase

I kind of don't like my Britax. I got a great deal on the Advocate CS. I'm happy with the look and how comfortable it seems to be. However I find the straps very difficult to tighten and even more difficult to loosen. Am I stupid? Am I missing some trick?
