Albuterol inhaler for a cough?

Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? I went to the dr today and I saw an NP that I had never seen before.. (we saw her once when Eve was sick).. she did a strep test on me and she said it looked like there was a "little" strep but not enough to be positive.. so I don't know what the heck that means.. So she didn't want to give me an antibiotic..

She wrote me a script for Robitussin with codeine and an albuterol inhaler. I know that the inhaler is kind of expensive so I only wanna fill it if it will help.. FWIW, my lungs are clear, the cough is all kind of in my throat/nose.. I just want to feel better though.. she literally told me to "suffer" for another 7 days.. I've already been sick for 6 days.
