Allergies?

DS has had several allergic reactions to foods since he started solids.  We had a reaction to blueberries yesterday and had to go to the pediatrician.  Our pedi is sending us to an allergist and the appointment is tomorrow.  I've heard really terrible things about skin tests, blood draws, etc.  Has anyone had experiences with this?  What can I expect?  I'm so nervous and I'm contemplating calling the office when they open tomorrow so I can ask them to explain what 

I should expect at the appointment (it's in the evening) but I don't want to seem too crazy!!
