Teeth at 3?

Are there any molars that come around age 3? He has been chewing on his finger for the last few nights and when I ask him if he teeth hurt, he says yes. I know he already has his 2-year molars. When I put my finger back there before, I did feel something hard, but I don't know if it was just bone.
