Ex Inlaws and the like.

I am going on a cruise for my sister's wedding in May and E won't be old enough to go with us. Perfect chance for him to get to know his dad's parents. (And maybe meet his dad, who knows? ) Anyway, I have heard them talk about feeding E's cousin all sorts of crap like it's funny and about how they do certain things even when the baby's mom tells them not to because "they had 5 sons who turned out fine!" <--- obviously a matter of opinion...

My question is, how can I nicely ask them to follow my guidelines on how I raise my son? Should I just suck it up and not think about it and try to fix whatever damage they do when I get him back?  Would written instructions offend them?
