Anyone have any experience/knowledge of molar pregnancies?

My friend that lost her baby after TTC for 3 1/2 years had a follow up today.  They did testing on the tissue, etc. and found that she had a molar pregnancy. That's all her text told me...she said she'd email me more info when she felt up to it.  I don't know anything about it, but did a quick google search and it seems strange to me. She didn't have any of the symptoms that were listed.  Anyone have any info to share?
