what kind of crockpot do you have?

So many people leave their crockpot on all day while at work.  This scares us.  We have a Crockpot that seems to cook everything to hot even on the low setting.  My mom gave me a slow cooker from who knows when.  It cooks great but I still worry.  Are crockpots and slow cookers the same?
