Annoyed with Thirsties sizing

I got a Thirsties duo diaper, size 1, in my cloth diaper trial. I loved it. The double leg gussets were great. No leaks. It was a little on the small side, so I bought some used size 2. They are big! They hold in poops, but he leaks pee out of the waist if he naps in them. I'm annoyed because now I have to just have these dipes sitting around until he can fit into them...
