can I get some WB longie advice

I bought a pair and I like them but DS wore them one time and they are all pilly.  He didn't even wear them for a full day - just a couple hours.  I emailed her and she said to rub them down with a pumice stone.  Okay, I don't mind doing that once in a while but after every use???  Should I ask for an exchange?  Would she even give me one?  I don't want to be rude or ask for too much.
