Patterns for DIY CDs

Do any of you ladies who make your own CD have an actual pattern or did you just trace a diaper you already had?  Where did you find your patterns?  Did you have to tweak them at all?  I bought our current CD on eBay (SunBabies) and they are awful.  6 months of use and I can't use half of them anymore because the snaps deformed and the rest of the diapers leak at the leg (I have a very lean baby) and leak through the snaps even if the diaper isn't very full. I thought about just buying a better brand but some of the homemade ones are just so cute and I thought I could at least give it a try since it would be so much cheaper.  If it doesn't work out, at least I wouldn't have wasted so much money.
