wool cleaning question

So, our two pairs of wool longies have been in night time rotation for about a year now.  I clean/lanolize them every so often (I would like to say monthly, but I'm sure that there are some months that didn't get done or the time was otherwise stretched).  I just cleaned both pairs of longies in the last week (using bar from Ewe Need It dissolved in warm water, swish with light scrubbing and soak for 30 minutes) and the wool still seems to smell.  Some of it is a musty smell, which is ok, but it also has a clear pee smell so that I really didn't want DS in bed with me the other night (granted, he shouldn't be there anyway, but he was teething and I like the little boy snuggles).  Am I cleaning ineffectively? something else going on?
