Another Vacation question

Which would you rather with kids:

#1: All inclusive very kid friendly resort - water slides and pools and games. Lots of stuff to do.

#2: A private villa with separate rooms, private pool and small private beach. Full kitchen. A 3 minute drive to the public beach.

I'm going back and forth. #1 will probably come out to be more expensive. But we wouldn't have to rent a car. I'm nervous about feeding toddlers from a buffet all week - Evan is so picky and I can't imagine him sitting still while we eat. But #2 is kind of a wild card in terms of the kids. I just wouldn't want them to get bored. But I am thinking #1 would be a bit too much stimulation (for all of us!) With #2 we could grill and cook our own meals - even if it is just cereal and PB&Js all week. I'm thinking DH would also be able to relax more...and he really needs a mental break!

Thoughts? We haven't been on a REAL vacation in sooooo long. I just want to find the perfect fit!
