How much detergent to use?

Do you use the same amount of detergent that you would for a regular wash for your CDs?  I remember reading somewhere to use less (like 1 Tbsp?), so there isn't as much buildup.  But will your diapers still get clean? 

I am starting to prep some prefolds and just want to make sure I'm doing it right.  Thanks ladies.
