Help with Fuzzibunz pocket

I bought some Fuzzibunz pockets used and they came without inserts. I bought grovia inserts which seem to fit fine. The only problem is the diapers always leak. Can I not use Grovia inserts? The insert seems to have 2 different sides and I'm wondering if I am using the wrong side. Should I have prepped the inserts? I really want to use them and they seem to fit LO well. Help!
